Under 11's Presentation Night
Newton Storm u11's would like to say a big thank you to Saints star Tony Puletua for his appearance at the club to present the end of season awards. A great night was had by all as the team celebrated another fantastic season.
All the squad received a trophy for representing Storm and the following players received individual awards:-

Under 9's win Newton Storm Team of the Year

The under 9's picked up the Team of the Year award at their presentation night on Friday 24th June after another successful season. The team, pictured above with their award, have lost only one game in the last 18 months. Congratulations to the players, coaching staff (and parents!) on their success.
Under 9's player Leaon Chappell also picked up the Joseph McCabe Award for Newton Storm Player of the Year award, chosen by Storm Chairman Paul Eden.

St Helens Supporters Club Presentation
Storm Chairman Paul Eden and players from Newton Storm attended a presentation on behalf of St Helens Supporters Club at the Black Bull in St Helens where they recevied a generous donation of rugby equipment. Thank you to the Supporters Club and to Francis Meli who was on hand to make the presentation.
U9's Storm through Scarborough Festival

The u9's enjoyed a successful trip to the Scarborough Rugby Festival and were victorious in 9 out of their 10 games over the weekend to win their competition. England Coach Steve McNamara watched the u9's in action and was very impressed by what he saw. Congratuations to the coaches Dave, Chris and Lee and well done to the whole squad for the way they conducted themselved both on the field and off it, a credit to the club.
U13's END OF SEASON AWARDS
The u13's commemorated the end of their first competitive season with their presentation night on Saturday 16th April. Team awards were given to the whole squad and individual awards were presented to the following players:

Congratulations to the whole team for a really successful season, playing some fantastic rugby and making it through to the NWC Development Cup Final. Despite the disappointing result, it certainly gives us some valuable experience and a great platform for us to build on for next season. Well done to the individual award winners, all voted for by their team mates and very well deserved.
Storm players achieve double schools success
St Mary's boys rugby team (consisting completely of Newton Storm players) won the St Helens Primary Contact Rugby Competition organsed by Saints RL Community Development Foundation Team. The team beat Sherdley Primary in the semi final and went on the play Legh Vale in the final, with Legh Vale also boasted a few Storm players! The final match was a tense, exciting closely fought match between two very competitve and evenly matched teams. The game went into extra time and the St Marys team finally came out victorious. Storm players featuring in the vicorius team were Tom Nisbet (c), Jack Winstanley, Tomas Curtis, Ben Collier, Ryan Wilkinson, Luke LaPersonne, Ryan Littler, Mason Reilly, Drew Prescott, Christian Szalk, Rhys Goldsmith and Reece Arthur.
Byrchall High School rugby team also won the Wigan High Schools Rugby Tournament on the same day, winning all their group games without conceding a try before defeating Bedford High School in golden point extra time by 4 tries to 3 in the final. Storm players featuring in the win were Brad Billsborough (c), Josh Hankey, Liam Conway, Ross Hankinson, Aedan McAleavy and Dylan Smith.
Under 7's make their debut at Saints
Newton Storm u7's made their debut at the Stobart Statium on Friday 11th March, playing at half time in the Saints' Engage Super League fixture against Harlequins.
Their opponents, Clock Face Miners were tough opposition, but Storm came out on top winning the game with a great try by Billy Heaton.
Saints Service Area Coordinator Steve Leonard said "Credit must go to the Players, Coaches, parents and both Community Clubs who produced such a spectacle. The evening was a great success and only the start of a long Summer promoting U7’s and Cubs camps all around the Community Clubs."
Steve urged all parents to watch the Saints web site for details of Summer camps being held around the Parks and Clubs of the St Helens Service Area in the coming months.
"We are working hard with each club to carry on after the Saints Summer Camp to give each child the opportunity to continue playing Rugby League.Negotiations are already underway securing venues for the Summer Camps and will be publicised as soon as we possibly can."

u13's Touch Rugby Success
Newton Storm under 13's today competed in a touch rugby tournament organised by St Helens Council and St Helens RLFC. Storm entered two teams into the competition and one of the sides (pictured below) managed to go through all their group games unbeaten (W4 D1), beat Prem side Haresfinch in the semi final (4-3) and lost narrowly to another Prem side (Clock Face Miners) in the Final by 2 tries to 1. Overall, a fantastic day for all the lads - thank you to the Council and Saints for their organisation of the event.
Well done to all the Storm lads who took part, you did yourselves and the club proud.

Open Age Kit unveiled
Newton Storm Open Age team have now been presented with their new kit sponsored by local major developer Langtree. Vicky Sproat from Langtree was on hand to present the kit at a recent game against Chorley. A big thank you to all our sponsors for their continued support.

Storm Funding Success
Newton Storm ARLFC are delighted to announce that they have secured £5,000 grant funding from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust to deliver rugby league coaching sessions to all primary and secondary schools in the area. The project will commence in October 2010 and will be delivered by Storm coaches Mark Thomas & Den McGee.
The club would like to thank The Coalfields Regeneration Trust for their support and this project is sure to impact on player numbers and will supplement our recruitment policy for all our junior teams over the next 12 months.

The season starts for our Open Agen side this Saturday 4th September and they are currently on the lookout for new players to bolster their squad.

Newton Storm ARLFC are delighted to unveil Langtree as the new sponsor of our under 8's and Open Age teams for 2010/11.

Newton Rugby Festival
Newton Storm Festival of Rugby took place on Sunday 8th August and was played out by 14 teams across 4 age groups (u8, u10, u11 and u13). The weather stayed fine and a great time was had by all.
Thank you to everyone who attended - players, coaches and parents alike - and especially those who helped us organise and deliver a great first festival. Well done to festival organisers Martin Darwin and Ken Tinkley who did a sterling job. The Club look forward to welcoming everyone back again next year..
U10's Team Building Day
Newton Storm u10 enjoyed a fantastic day out at their end of season teambuilding day. Storm's 'Team of the year' were rewarded for the hard work during the season with a fun day out that included wall climbing, high ropes course, raft building and rifle shooting. The team were a credit to the club.

Saints Recognise Storm Success
Newton Storm have received the RFL’s Clubmark Gold Status. The hard work of the Newton committee and in particular Craig Bailey led to the club gaining the accolade which demonstrates their commitment and effort in providing a first class Rugby League facility to the Community of Newton-le-Willows.
“It was a great honour to achieve such an accolade,” Club Chairman Paul Eden said. “I hope that the continued development work that the club is doing in the surrounding district, coupled with this Award can be another milestone in our progress. “I’d like to thank Steve Leonard for his support and Gordon Pennington and Saints for their hospitality.”

CUBS CAMP A HUGE SUCCESS
Newton Storm Cubs Camp got off to a flying start on Saturday 15th May with over 30 local children aged 4-6 in attendance. Storm coaches Paul and Debbie French were joined by Paul Sculthorpe and Saints mascot Boots who also joined in the fun! Thanks also to some of the players from older Storm Age Groups who turned up to lend a hand!
Storm partnered with Steve Leonard (Service Area Co-Ordinator) and the Saints Community Coaches to launch the cubs camp, aiming to give children the chance to experience rugby skills in a fun and friendly environment.
Cubs Camp runs every Saturday at Newton Sports Club, Crow Lane from 10am-11am.

Newton Storm are delighted to announce that we have achieved CLUBMARK GOLD status with the RFL which is fantastic news for the club.

Having already reached Clubmark status, we opted to set an even higher benchmark for ourselves and thanks to the sterling work of club secretary Craig Bailey and other members of the committee, we have been awarded this highly sought after recognition which demonstrates that we are a high quality and well managed amateur rugby league club.
Sport England Clubmark sets generic criteria for national governing bodies of sport to accredit their clubs against in order to create safe, effective, and child friendly environments. Clubs who achieve Clubmark Gold Status are officially ‘rubber stamped’ as being a quality club, having all the right procedures, policies, action plans and coaches with relevant qualifications in place, ensuring the club has a ‘safe, effective and child friendly environment’, and are known as “A Quality Assured Rugby League Club”.

Under 10's Sponsored Walk
A great day was had by all when 35 players and parents participated in a sponsored walk from Newton Sports Club to the GPW Stadium prior to the game between Saint’s & Wigan. Congratulations and well done to all who took part.

Newton Storm CUBS CAMP
Newton Storm ARLFC would like to invite children aged between 4 and 6 to join our CUBS CAMP on Wednesday evening from 6pm - 7pm at Newton Sports Club.
Children will learn rugby skills in a fun environment specifically tailored to suit their needs, offering massive benefits to fitness, health and wellbeing in addition to promoting communication and team working!
The official launch of the first CUBS CAMP will take place from 12pm-1pm on Saturday 15th May with former St Helens and Great Britain captain Paul Sculthorpe on hand to help deliver the sessions with the Saints Mascot - Boots! CUBS CAMP will revert back to the usual time slot of 10am–11 am from 22nd May onwards.
